Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PVC(Permanent Virtual Connection) control method which is capable of switching a PVC connection at a high speed in the case of occurrence/restoration of a fault, is excellent in reliability and maintainability, and can be easily controlled in an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) communication network. SOLUTION: A master PVC connection and an OAM(Operation Administration and Maintenance) connection are established between two ATM exchanges, and a detour PVC connection and a detour OAM connection which are previously prepared for a detour are also established. If the occurrence/restoration of a fault is recognized by an OAM function, an operation PVC connection is switched between the master PVC connection and the detour PVC connection.
